Mariana Sabino-Salazar is a Ph.D. student in the Hispanic and Latin American Languages and Cultures program at the University of Texas in Austin. Her research focuses on the migration of Romani people into Brazil and México. She has studied with Prof. Ian Hancock and has been working in the Romani Archives and Documentation Center since 2013. She is interested in the gathering, preservation, and accessibility of evidence of unrecognized peoples. She has written about the legal history of the Romanies in México. Her most recent projects are related to the incipient Latin-American Romani literature and different musical genres that were influenced by Romani musicians during colonial times.

Mariana Sabino-Salazar estudia el doctorado en Literatura y Cultura Ibérica y Latinoamericana en la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Su investigación se enfoca en las migraciones de la población Romaní a México y Brasil. Estudió con el Prof. Ian Hancock y ha trabajado en el Archivo y Centro Documental Romaní desde 2013. Está interesada en el acopio, preservación y accesibilidad a evidencia documental de grupos humanos no reconocidos. Ha escrito sobre la historia legal de los romaníes en México. Sus últimos proyectos están vinculados a la incipiente literatura romaní en Latinoamérica y géneros musicales que han sido influenciados por músicos romaníes durante la etapa colonial.
